The AES-5230 is computer-controlled rotary spray machine. The standard system has four or eight rotating arms. Each arm has a programmable spray gun that can be adjusted to virtually any angle. The system produces precise arc patterns in repetitive and overlapping waves. This allows for precisely-wrapped edges and properly-filled recesses. The result is much higher-quality finishes than conventional automated finishing systems.

The AES-5230 starts by defining the actual size and shape of each part as it passes under a scanner. The parts data goes into a computer which follows the path and shape of each individual part. It takes into account the speed of the part on the conveyor and the speed of the guns rotating around the shaft. The computer activates each gun as it goes over the part to be sprayed.

The AES-5230 is based on a principle fundamentally superior to a reciprocating action. By using a fully-rotating head—equipped with up to eight guns—the system immediately becomes extremely versatile. The speed of the line and the rate of rotation can be varied so as to achieve optimum levels of quality.
Another area where the AES-5230 is superior to the reciprocation action is in the thickness of work-piece it can handle. AES’s spray guns—which can be adjusted from an angle of 15 to 60 degrees in a few seconds—can provide a constant finishing coat on work-pieces with edges of up to 4". By way of contrast, reciprocation guns that operate vertically are restricted to about 2" of thickness.
Important added flexibility in the AES-5230 is derived from the use of independent circuits for spray guns. It is possible to switch from one set of spray guns to another. In addition, it is possible to clean the complete spray gun circuit while another is in operation.
Waste material is removed from the belting by the combination of a scraping-blade mechanism and a solvent bath, through which the belting passes automatically. The combination of a non-stick proprietary belting and medium durometer urethane scraper means that the especially-strong conveyor sustains no damage and it returns cleaned for the next working cycle. The recovered finishing material drains through the stainless trough into a collecting bucket. There, it can be transferred to a drum for eventual re-use.
