The Rotary Sander Model R40V/R52V is designed to completely, symmetrically, and very thoroughly de-nib or finish sand-and-seal three-dimensional work pieces such as raised-panel doors and entry doors.
The R40V/R52V has four sanding spindles. Two spindles rotate clockwise and two spindles rotate counterclockwise. The spindle speed is variable by means of a frequency inverter. All of the spindles are placed on one main head, or plate, that also rotates. The head rotation adjusts by frequency inverter. There is motorized up/ down adjustment of the sanding heads with digital readout for sanding height.
The R40V/R52V is equipped with a variable vacuum hold-down system with two motors. One pump is concentrated on the center 1/3 of the bed to ensure retention of smaller parts. The vacuum system is built into the base of the machine. Sound-insulating material surrounds the vacuum pumps to reduce operating noise level. The conveyor belt speed is adjustable by a gear motor and frequency inverter.
The touch-screen control panel is used for adjusting and monitoring all functions. It is built into the infeed end of the machine. This offers the operator easy access and visibility to the control panel and the digital readouts for spindle speed, head rotation, conveyor belt speed, and sanding height from different working positions. There is a button on the control panel that reverses the rotation of the sanding spindles.
The spindles can be loaded with single sided strips with a grit for either raw-wood or sealer sanding. Or, the spindles can be loaded with double-sided strips with a different grit on each side of the strip. This allows you to go from raw-wood sanding to sealer sanding at the touch of a button.
The touch screen also offers menu programming for the various functions—part number, spindle speed, carousel rotation, conveyor speed, vacuum percentage, sanding height, and WW or SS. Once you have programmed these functions, just press the button; the R40V/R52V automatically changes all of the settings to the pre-defined values.
The dust collection pick-up points are through each side door, allowing collection at the conveyor level where it is created. This ensures very efficient extraction of the sanding dust. The vacuum pump outlets can be filtered and vented into your shop if desired.
