The Packet Transfer is used to create a U-turn in a flatline process system. Groups of parts—or Packets—are conveyed into position then lifted using padded carriage bars. The carriage moves over and places the group onto stationary center bars. The carriage then returns to lift the next group. Both groups are then lifted together and moved over. The first group is place on the outfeed rolls and conveyed to the next process and the second group is placed on the stationary bars. The process continues as each group enters the transfer. Movement of the packets is handled automatically by the PLC control system.
